What is an EX1 declaration?
EX1 (also called EX-A) is the export declaration lodged with customs when goods leave the customs territory of the European Union. After the goods physically exit the EU, the customs system confirms the export — this confirmation is the exporter’s proof that the goods have left the EU.
For the seller, this proof is the basis for applying a 0% VAT rate to the export sale.
When you need it
- You sell goods from an EU country to a buyer outside the EU
- You need a confirmation of export for your VAT records
- Your buyer or carrier asks for an export accompanying document
What we need from you
- Commercial invoice
- Packing list with weights and the number of packages
- Commodity codes (HS codes) of the goods, if known
- Details of the exporter and the buyer, including the EORI number
How it works
- 1You send us the invoice and the packing list
- 2We check the data and prepare the declaration
- 3The declaration is lodged and the goods are released for export
- 4After the exit you receive the export confirmation
